Why does it matter?

Because when a woman skips
down the street with flowers
it helps to question if
the flowers were received
or if they are about to be given
Are they clutched close to her chest
or rather are they leading her way
to the bar.

Everything we touch:
a part of the great passing
from one to the other
How freeing that no flowers are truly ours.

​

And even the wilting
that happens in a vase
that also is not ours to keep
The petals curve towards the earth
and the grief now belongs to the soil.
